National Organ & Tissue Donation Awareness Week

Apr 21 - Apr 27

Every year in April, BC Transplant focuses its efforts on raising awareness for organ donation around the province.

April 21-27 is National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week (NOTDAW). Each year, B.C Transplant will dedicate this time to sharing stories and raising awareness about the benefits of organ donation and the life-saving effects of transplantation. Awareness events, advertising, registration drives, news stories – it’s a busy month and you’re invited to have conversations about organ donation.

Take two minutes and save a life
  • It takes less than two minutes to register
  • Our campaign hashtag is #taketwominutes
  • They can go to and register
  • One donor can save up to eight lives
  • Any British Columbian can register their decision regardless of: age, sexual orientation, medical history or religion
  • You’re more likely to need a transplant than you are to become an organ donor
  • Register now
  • All you need is your Personal Health Number to register
  • You only need to register once

We’ll once again be kicking off national awareness week with a 48 hour registration drive. The blitz will begin on Wednesday, April 24 morning, and wrap up 48 hours later on Friday morning – April 26. The goal? To reach 4,800 registrations for organ donation in 48 hours!

Join the conversation by using the hashtag #48in48 and sharing your wishes about organ donation with your family.
