20-year old New Zealand singer and songwriter BENEE made her TV debut this week on The Tonight Show.

‘Supalonely’ was released late last year and since been streamed more than 200 million times and it became a viral hit on TikTok.  BENEE’s band along with Gus Dapperton all made an appearance during the performance.  In a recent interview with NME, BENEE shares, “I’m getting a lot more people coming from different pockets of the world who weren’t listening to my music before, which is insane. It’s definitely opened up a lot of doors for me at the moment.”

In addition, BENEE released an alternative version of her debut single, ‘Lownely.’  “I decided that I wanted to show a different side to the song seeing as when I wrote it, I was actually at a pretty low point.  My guitar player Tiare came up with the guitar parts which I loved! I wanted to create a slow sad indie vibe and she did a really awesome job of this! We ended up getting it mixed by Dilip Harris in the UK who does a lot of work for King Krule (who I love) I thought he would really complement the style of the song,” explains BENEE.

The alternative version was created during the COVID-19 lockdown.  Take a listen below.
