Canadian cute Alessia Cara will host the 49th annual JUNO Awards! The awards will be held inside the SaskTell Centre, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on March 15!

In addition to her hosting duties, Alessia is nominated for six awards including ‘JUNO Fan Choice,’ ‘Single of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year.’  According to Allan Reid, president and CEO of the Canadian Academy of Recordings Arts and Sciences (CARAS), he says, “Besides being a great artist, she [Alessia] has also become an incredible role model for young women, and, I must say, she is wise beyond her years.”   Alessia later sent this heartfelt tweet saying, “Thank you for the 6 nominations JUNO Awards.  So flattered and excited to be hosting too! See you March 15!”

Alessia shares, “For those of you who are hoping it was someone else like Shawn Mendes, I’m sorry, it is me. You’re stuck with me.  This is really, really exciting. I’m so excited to be a part of Canada’s biggest night in music in this way. This is the first time I’ve been the sole host of anything, so I hope I don’t disappoint. My first reaction was ‘Why?’ My second was ‘No way.’ And then my third was obviously ‘Yes’ because I’m here.  But yeah, I’m super excited. Thank you to everyone who decided that I can do this. I’m very, very honored.”

Alessia has previously won two JUNO awards, has been nominated 13 times and she will also take the stage to perform.  According to Billboard,For the past two decades, CARAS has moved the Junos from city to city each year. The 50th anniversary celebration will be in Toronto, where the show originated.”
