Little by little, Demi Lovato is opening up about her apparent overdose that took place last July.  Posting to her Instagram Stories, Demi explains how this year, she would’ve celebrated 7 years of sobriety and how the mistakes she made in the past or just that, mistakes.

Demi writes, “Today I would’ve had 7 years sober.  I don’t regret going out because I needed to make those mistakes but I must never forget that’s exactly what they were: mistakes.”

Demi continues, “Grateful that AA/NA never shuts the door on you no matter how many times you have to start your time over.  I didn’t lose 6 years, I’ll always have that experience but now I just get to add to that time with a new journey and time count.”

And lastly, “If you’ve relapsed and are afraid to get help again, just know it’s possible to take that step towards recovery.  If you’re alive today, you can make it back.  You’re worth it.”

It was last July that news broke about Demi’s overdose, which happened in her L.A. home.  Afterwards, she was hospitalized, then sent to a treatment facility and then by November, was home with her family.  According to a source, “Demi is back home and she’s taking care of herself and is in a positive place.  She’s working out and getting back in the studio to make music.”

A month after her treatment, Demi tweeted, “Someday I’ll tell the world what exactly happened, why it happened, and what my life is like today … but until I’m ready to share that with people, please stop prying and making up sh*t that you know nothing about.  I still need space and time to heal.”

And Demi has some final words – she posted on Insta-story, “Dear papsmear-azzi, please stop following me because, 1. I’m not doing anything newsworthy and 2. I’m purposefully re-wearing the same 3 lazy bum outfits over and over again that I’ve already been photographed in so you can’t make any money off of them.  You are literally wasting your time.”
