Before we get into it, let’s recap 2018 for Drake – he dropped his fifth studio album Scorpion which, broke record after record.  In his ‘God’s Plan’ music video, he gave away $1 million, he inspired a dance craze all thanks to his 2018 hit ‘In My Feelings’ AND he dethroned his own self on the Billboard charts, not once but twice!

According to the IFPI, which in short, is an organization that represents the entire music industry, named Drake as ‘the world’s best-selling recording artist of 2018.’  Billboard states, “He’s the only artist to ever hold the prestigious title multiple times, with his first being in 2016.”

According to Frances Moore who is the chief executive of IFPI, “Drake has had an incredible, record-breaking year, one that is more than worthy of the title of Global Recording Artist of the Year.  That Drake has won this award for the second time is testament to his continued global appeal and his ability to engage and connect with fans.”
