This was their second performance over the entire GRAMMY weekend.  Two nights prior to the big awards, Shawn and Miley performed at the MusiCares Gala, which honoured country icon Dolly Parton.

Following their Dolly performance, Miley told Variety that she slipped into Shawn’s DMs about performing together, “I actually sent him a DM and said, ‘I don’t know what you’re trying to do next,’ because I’ve actually been in his position in his career, too, before, where you’re someone who I think is trying to fit into pop music and you want to be played on pop music, but you don’t want to be conformist and you want to do your own thing.  I love the way that he always kind of plays alternative pop because it’s something that I love to do.”

Following the release of ‘In My Blood,’ Shawn told Rolling Stone it’s a song about depression.  He explained how he once suffered a panic attack and he found comfort in reading tweets from fans who expressed how much they loved his song.  He remembered one story in particular – it was about a woman who played his song for her daughter in a hospital, “I broke down in my hotel room.  I started crying, and I was just like, ‘This is why you talk about s**t that actually is real.’ I was like, ‘God, don’t ever f*****g question the feeling of writing the truth again.’”
