Missy Elliott is making history as the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Missy’s career has spanned almost 30 years and besides her award-winning performances of her songs, she’s also written for artists like Beyonce, Aaliyah, Monica, Lil Kim, Janet Jackson, and Mary J. Blige.

Missy took to her Twitter page to acknowledge the honor tweeting, “I am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers.”

Missy is the third rapper to receive the award, JAY-Z was the first in 2017, followed by Jermaine Dupri in 2019. Missy will be honored along with Mariah Carey at a ceremony on June 13, 2019, in New York.
