Playdium is coming back!!

As a refresher, Playdium at Metrotown (where the Winners is currently) was THE arcade mecca in the Lower Mainland from the late 90s to 2005. We have fond memories of getting one of those $20 unlimited game cards with the Student Price Card deal and playing our hearts out for 2 hours. Man those were good times.

Well good news, friend!!

Playdium’s parent company, Cineplex, has announced plans this week to revive the brand and open 10 -15 new locations in “mid-sized communities” across Canada starting next year. While no particular BC cities were announced, they did say each center will be about 30,000+ sq. ft of classic and new video games and interactive experiences like 2-level laser tag, VR, bowling and climbing walls. Whitby, Ontario will be the first of the cities to get their game on as of early 2018.

Much like the Playdium of yesteryear, you’ll also be able to order up food and rent out private birthday party rooms.

Meanwhile, Burnaby’s Brentwood Town Centre will be getting BC’s first Cineplex “Rec Room” in 2019 attached to its new VIP cinemas. Much like Playdium, Rec Rooms features dining options, amusement games, VR and race car simulators, live music performances, and a sports bar, among others.

What other Lower Mainland attraction would you like to see return?

How about this other Metrotown classic where the Old Navy is today?
