Your texting someone you’ve got a little something for, and you don’t exactly know what their saying. We’ve all been there. Usually its a scramble to get your friends to help you decode a simple text, but now, there’s an app for that.

Witty Thumbs is an app that will let you upload a screenshot of your text message, and the community of users and experts will help you decode what exactly they mean by “haha yeah.” So now you have a whole community to overthink what they say.

I remember once I was texting this pretty girl that I met at a concert. We exchanged numbers and went our way, and started to arrange a plan to hang out. I suggested coffee, and then she hits me with

“Or we could do something else :)”

What is something else? Does the smiley face mean anything? She didn’t use those a lot. So I responded

“What do you want to do?”

“I don’t know”

OK thanks for the help Jess. Clearly you want to do something else, and you wont tell me what it is, so I have to guess. Now she could have been implying something, but I didn’t want to overstep boundaries. It’s one of those things where I have to decode the text, and I can’t. Eventually we went for a lunch date, and it turns out she was much more interesting when there was loud music playing over her talking. But still, it would have been helpful to know what exactly something else was.

Here’s a few codes that I’ve learned so far. Usually it’s right.

Fine = Not fine

I don’t know = You have to guess because I told you once 3 months ago

That sounds good = I probably won’t have fun but I’m doing it for you

Heyyyyyy = I’m trying to be flirty

But there’s still many more out there, and everyone’s different, so they all have their own form of texting code.

There’s some interesting conversations and reviews here that you can check out.
