At Cooper’s Hill in Gloucester, England every year, forty or so twenty-something men and women with something to prove throw themselves down a hill in pursuit of a roll of double Gloucester cheese.

The event consists of three men’s races and one women’s race, each with the goal of getting down the hill first. Contestant’s attempt to run down the hill, but more often than not end up rolling like the cheese. Each winner gets the cheese wheel that they chased as a prize.

This year’s winner in all three men’s races is a maniac named Chris Anderson. These three wins add to his legendary total of 20 cheese wheel wins, tied with Stephen Gyde for the most wheels ever won. Anderson doesn’t even like double Gloucester cheese.

Instead he plans to auction off the cheese that he won for Joseph’s goal, a charity that funds research for Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NHK). NHK is a disease that affects babies brains, causing them to develop slower. It also gives the babies trouble breathing and eating. The disease affects 1/63,000 babies in B.C., and has a 70% survival rate. Anderson’s wife’s nephew has the disease.

The race featured other crazy antics this year, including someone racing in a T-Rex suit. Great photo’s and more about the race can be found here.

18 year old Keavy Morgan won her second women’s race this year.
