Ever since Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” came out and became our jam, some people have noticed it sounds a bit familiar…(and no, we’re not talking about it sounding like Sia’s “Cheap Thrills“)

Well, there might be something to this. This week, Ed has quietly added the songwriters of TLC’s 1999 hit to the list of credits for Shape of You. It’s unclear if the move was due to potential legal action but it means No Scrubs’ writers Kevin ‘She’kspere’ Briggs, Kandi Burruss, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle and the estate of the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes will now be sharing in the royalties of Sheeran’s hit song.

For comparison, here’s a dance mash-up of the two songs that we hope DJ Trouble and Ara will play one day soon on the KiSSMix…

Maybe you need a more stripped-down version of the two songs together so here’s a cover from the very talented Sabrina Carpenter on YouTube:

Hmmmm….do you hear the similarities? Will you be singing “No Scrubs” every time you hear us play “Shape of You”?

While you ponder that, here’s Ed’s “lookalike”, actor Rupert Grint, doing a dramatic reading of “Shape of You”:
