Everyone has an opinion about the Kirke’s choice to bare her hairy underarms at the 74th Annual Golden Globes this past Sunday night.

There were a number of memorable moments from Sunday night’s annual Golden Globe Awards, in case you missed them, get caught up here.

Today, everyone is talking about underarm hair, and about whether or not it’s “brave” or “disgusting” to leave it aux-naturale. Actress Lola Kirke has been making headlines for her decision to accessorized her embroidered pink Andrew Gn gown with unshaven armpits.

Magazines like Vogue are applauding 26 year old actress’ choice, calling her a champion for body hair and body confidence. While the comment sections on Facebook show comments like this:

Chelsey Harves It literally takes like 15 seconds to just shave your armpit hair in the shower or bath. Is she trying to make a statement about something or does she really not have 15 seconds? Because if she isn’t supporting or making a statement about anything then she is really just coming off as lazy.

Ross Gage GROSS!!! All that money and you can’t afford a razer???

Right along comments like this:

Susanna Mace I applaud her for being true to herself it is her body afterall and her right! X

Mark Poulson Good for her! Her body, and how she grooms it, is her business!

Now Lola Kirke isn’t the first woman in Hollywood to go out in public with hairy armpits. In fact, the Kirke family has a history of flaunting the natural look. As well as actresses like Drew Barrymore and Julia Roberts, who have also opted to leave the razors out of the picture for past red carpet appearances.

I do agree that it’s a bold move to not shave your armpits, especially when your a woman in the public eye. Women in Hollywood are under much more scrutiny than men when it comes to their appearances and society in general still isn’t a huge fan of hair unless it’s on the top of your head. Kirke’s choice may encourage and empower others to opt out of shaving their underarms and that’s fine. Honestly, though, it’s your body, do what ever you want with it. I’m going to keep shaving my armpits, but I’m fine with people like Lola for doing whatever they want to their bodies.
