Oh Mother Nature, you are something else…

On Monday we received our first wintery blast of weather, but that was only the start. The snow started to fall again Friday morning and is still going. Environment Canada has kept the Snowfall Warning in effect over the lower mainland. What was supposed to be rain on Saturday, is now looking like snow and some areas could get another 5cm on Saturday.

“Higher terrain and eastern sections of Metro Vancouver will see locally 5 cm of additional snowfall today, tonight and tomorrow. The snow may become mixed with light rain this afternoon as temperatures hover near the freezing mark.”

UPDATE: The Snowfall Warning has ended for Metro Vancouver, still in effect for Chiliwack and Abbotsford.

The weather has also caused one of the major bridges to close down. Crews closed down the Alex Fraser Bridge over fear of those falling “Ice Bombs” on Saturday. On Monday, ice was falling off of the cables on the Port Mann and Alex Fraser Bridges onto cars.

Around 30 vehicles reported smashed windshields or dents in their cars from these ice bombs (yikes!). You can have all of my NOPES.

Areas like Port Moody, and Coquitlam saw up to 25cm of snow, and still counting! Treena, from our sister station, NEWS 1130 shared this photo from her home in Port Moody.
