For 2017, you can celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with unlimited access to every National Marine Conservation Areas & Historic Sites with park passes. The best part, you can now order your park passes online.

Back in January (man, where has 2016 GONE?!) The announcement was made:

“As a first step towards celebrating Canada150, Discovery Passes for 2016 will be valid for 24 months, rather than 12 months,” wrote Parks Canada’s Natalie Fay. “All Parks Canada Discovery Passes purchased in 2016 will be valid for 24 months from the date of purchase. The passes will incorporate the purchase of one year’s admission and free admission to Parks Canada places in 2017.”

It means an annual pass bought today would be valid until January 2018, rather than January 2017. Or visitors can just wait until January 2017 and get a free pass for that year.

Well, 2017 is almost here so that means it’s time to grab your park passes and start exploring all the beauty this great country has to offer.

When you order your park pass, you’ll only need to order one pass for your group or family if you are all travelling together. A 2017 Discovery Pass is valid for everyone arriving in the same vehicle at a national park, or arriving together at a marine conservation area or historic site.

What will it costs Park’s Canada? Most of the $670 million annual budget for Parks Canada is funded by the federal government, but other fees like camping, rentals and reservations also generate revenue. Parks Canada is expected to lose close to $60 million for this initiative. Well worth the loss!

Once you order your pass, they’re expected to start shipping out mid-December.

So while you’re waiting patiently by your mailbox, here’s a taste of what you could take in for 2017.
