Environment Canada has said the “intense Pacific Storm” will hit the Lower Mainland and the rest of the South Coast region on Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing with it significant snowfall.

After Monday night’s snow fall metro Vancouver and much of the lower mainland has been feeling the bite of winter. Snow on the ground and icy conditions made for a difficult commute for many Tuesday morning. With a number of buses not being able to run as well as some people’s drive to work taking up for four times longer than usual.

Well, bad news, Mother Nature isn’t giving us a break any time soon.

Environment Canada posted A pair of warnings early on Wednesday morning, pointing to plummeting temperatures and “significant snowfall” across Howe Sound, Whistler and the South Coast including the Lower Mainland.

The “intense Pacific Storm” will hit the Lower Mainland and the rest of the South Coast region on Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing with it “significant snowfall” Environment Canada warns.

Strong winds are also expected to accompany the snow flurries.

Just to make you feel even more bitter about the weather, a strengthening arctic ridge of high pressure will cause wind chill values of up to – 20°C across Howe Sound, Whistler and the Eastern Fraser Valley on Thursday night.

If you don’t speak meteorologist, that means it’s gonna be HELLA COLD

Environment Canada warns:

Anyone who is not dressed warmly is at risk of frostbite and hypothermia in cold weather. Be prepared for unusually cold temperatures and strong winds. Drive with care, especially along coastal routes exposed to outflow winds.
