2016 has been the year of celebrities quitting social media.

In June, Demi Lovato decided she had had enough of Twitter and Instagram so she decided to take a break…

In August, Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei was the subject of nasty, racist messages from Twitter users and posted the following message to her fans, explaining that she needed to take a break:

Most recently, Justin Bieber broke the hearts of his ‘Beliebers’ and deactivated his account after growing tired of negative comments from fans.

Kendall Jenner is the latest celebrity to leave Instagram and on Wednesday, she revealed to Ellen DeGeneres her reasons why.

She said, “I just wanted to detox. I felt like I just wanted a little bit of a break. I’m always on it. … I would wake up in the morning and I would look at it first thing, I would go to bed and it was the last thing I would look at…I felt a little too dependent on it, so I kinda wanted to take a minute to detox.”

She was surprised that her decision to leave was made into such a big deal telling Ellen, “It’s so crazy to me that it even became huge news like that. Like, I have no idea how that [happened]…I mean, like, I guess I didn’t expect it. I also took my Twitter off my phone. Like, I didn’t delete my Twitter entirely, but I took the app off my phone, so I had no idea anyone was even talking about it. I honestly didn’t even think anyone would care.”

She did reveal that she would return soon, . “I’ll be back. I’ll come back. It’s been two days! Withdrawals are starting to occur.”
