Macklemore is back with a powerful new song about the perils of drug addiction where he chronicles overcoming his own struggles, and the battles his friends and many more lost, in this verbal exposé of the government and Big Pharma’s plan to push pills. If Drug Dealer sounds a little familiar, he tackled the same subject matter recently on his song Kevin to push the message through to as many ears as possible. Newcomer Ariana DeBoo hauntingly hums the hook:

“My drug dealer was a doctor, doctor
Had the plug from Big Pharma, Pharma
He said that he would he’d heal me, heal me
But he only gave me problems, problems
My drug dealer was a doctor, doctor
Had the plug from Big Pharma, Pharma
I think he trying kill me, kill me
He tried to kill me for a dollar, for a dollar.”

The song dropped last night and serves as a companion track to Mack’s documentary Prescription for Change: Ending America’s Opioid Crisis which features a conversation with Barack Obama.
