Ahhhhhhhhhhh the smell of fresh powder! It never gets old. Whether you’re a seasoned vet, or a rookie looking for one hell of a view while you try your best not to fall all over yourself, Whistler/Blackcomb is one of the top ski and snowboard destinations in the world…and it’s right in our backyard!

The news came down today about Whistler being sold for heaps and heaps of cash (1.4 billion and some change to be exact-ish) and social media exploded negative comments and virtual tears upon learning that an AMERICAN entity bought the company.

Ahem. Key word: company. The hills are big business. Things happen in life. Property is bought and sold. From what’s been made public, everything will still be managed and run locally. The good news is Donald Trump did not buy our beloved piece of paradise. Had he done so can you begin to imagine the names he would slap atop the hills? Trump Hump 1 and Trump Hump 2? Trump Hump and BlackcombOver? I mean you never really know right?!

Lets just all be glad it was sold to a reputable company who has experience in things like ski resorts. Hey you never know, these guys could make all sorts of improvements and help boost the economy with all sorts of jobs to get things done! I thought I heard about a roller coaster and a water park around the mountain coming soon? Is that still happening? Guess it remains to be seen.

Yes, it was a surprise to many, including the Mayor of Whistler (who you’d think they might wanna pass these things by before making it public) BUT it could end up being a good thing in the end. Just imagine going up a new gondola that stops at coffee shops mid-air on some sort of futuristic platform drive thru before your skiis touch snow at the top! Here’s hoping our American neighbours would make sure it’s a Air Tim’s before anything else.
