It has been a difficult year in the music industry, and now we’ve lost another great talent. Sad to report that one half of the R&B duo P.M. Dawn, Attrell Cordes aka ‘Prince Be’ has died at age 46.

If you grew up in the 90’s PM Dawn holds a special place in your heart. I still jam out to ‘Set Adrift a Memory Bliss,’ their #1 hit from that era. Their sound would later be called ‘trip hop,’ to describe the unique mix of electronic, R&B and rap influences.

Cordes started the group with his brother Jarrett (DJ Minutemix) in high school.

TMZ reports that Cordes died of kidney disease, but was also living with diabetes. A post on the group’s Facebook page read, “Prince Be Rest In Peace forever more, Pain from Diabetes can’t harm you anymore.”

He leaves behind wife Mary and three children: Christian, Mia and Brandon. There has been an outpouring of support on social media.

Rest in peace.
