Let’s face it, getting out of bed in the morning is rough, and hitting the snooze button 17 times doesn’t help.

Former all-nighter student and lifelong lover of sleep, Winson Tam first had the idea for the product as a way of forcing himself to get up and out of bed, instead of perpetually pressing the snooze button. Tam’s solution? Ruggie.

Ruggie is a mat that you place next to your bed and the only way to turn it off is by getting out of bed and standing on it for five seconds. This forces you to get out of bed to use it and will then hopefully motivate you to stay up and start your day.

The Kickstarter campaign has already received massive reception with over 1,600 backers contributing $224,518 (at the time this article was written.)

There currently is a working Ruggie prototype, but Tam is seeking funding to bring Ruggie to the masses. Visit their Kickstarter page, or their official website if you’re interested in backing this project.
