The Vancouver Canucks announced their 2017-18 pre-season schedule on Wednesday, and they’re starting a new tradition with one of the games.
The Canucks announced that every year they will have a “home” pre-season game take place away from Rogers Arena, in an attempt to reach as many Canucks fans as possible.

The Canucks close out their pre-season with another home game, but rather than play it in Vancouver, the game will take place at Prospera Place in Kelowna, B.C.

“Kelowna has a rich hockey history and we are excited to play in front of great fans in the Okanagan,” Trevor Linden, president, hockey operations, said in a press release. “The pre-season marks the start of what will be a great year for hockey fans in B.C., as in addition to the continued development and growth of our team, we have the privilege of welcoming the hockey world to both the 2019 World Juniors and 2019 NHL Entry Draft at Rogers Arena.”

The Canucks will open their pre-season against the Edmonton Oilers on Sept. 18.
