Brace yourself…winter is coming. While fall only officially arrives this Friday, weather experts are out with their long-range forecasts and there’s a very good chance we’ll be hit hard once again here in the Lower Mainland this winter.

Remember this? (Of course you do…in fact, you might still have post-traumatic stress nightmares from this past winter)

From our friends at News1130, forecasters say there’s a 60% chance we’ll see another round of La Niña conditions over the winter months. That would mean cooler than average temperatures and the possibility of significant snowfall again.

Remember all that shoveling?

Joffrey Koeman, director of sales and marketing at Cypress Mountain, says if it pans out then it’s great news for the local ski hills. He adds they have made an addition to their runs in preparation for this season.

“There is a new gladed area which is called Sunshine Face which is at the skier’s right of top gun ski run and that’s a double-black diamond, so it’s definitely an advanced ski area that’s opening up this year.”

Plus, you’ll get some good use out of those winter tires if these predictions are correct. Speaking of…

And hey…while it caused traffic chaos, ice bombs and a mob-like frenzy over free salt from the city, maybe snowmageddon wasn’t all that bad. Especially if you’re a kid .
