Long before it was trending on Twitter, #FreeTheNipple was championed by one of our longtime Friends: Rachel Green.

Besides her classic haircut and on-and-off again relationship with Ross, played by David Schwimmer, Rachel’s incurable case of nippleitis seemed to be one of the character’s defining features. It didn’t matter if she was at Thanksgiving dinner, exploring the apartment building during a power outage, at work or just hanging out at Central Perk, it frequently appeared like Rachel letting her girls hang free—and perhaps that she was also a bit chilly.

With the series now available on Netflix, viewers are getting a chance to revisit all 10 seasons of the hit sitcom. Even though the final episode aired 13 (!!!) years ago, social media users noted that Rachel is perfectly on trend with the #FreeTheNipple movement that is prompting women to say ta-ta to bras and let their boobs bounce free.

When Vogue recently asked what it feels like to be the “OG of #FreeTheNipple,” Jennifer Aniston got straight to the point.

“I wear a bra, I don’t know what to tell ya!,” she told Vogue in a Q&A. “And I don’t know why we’re supposed to be ashamed of them—it’s just the way my breasts are! But hey, OG, I’m not going to complain!”

Wait, did a presumed wardrobe malfunction just become totally badass? Whether she’s the OG #FreeTheNipple mascot or not, let’s not forget that Aniston’s Rachel did leave her family’s money and a cheating husband to make it on her own (with, obvs, a bit of help from her friends), and, despite the show’s frequent casual sexism, she often represented a strong, empowered woman. Nips and all.
