A shocking video is making the rounds this morning where a mother at a medical clinic in Mississauga, Ontario demands a ‘white doctor’ for her son. The video is sparking outrage across the country and you’ll see why.

On the video you can hear the woman saying, “I would like to see a white doctor…you’re telling me there’s not one white doctor in this whole entire building?”

 

She goes on to say, “He was not speaking English. His teeth were brown. I do not need his help,” she says in the video.

 

Another part of the video that stands out to us is where she says “What type of horrible country do I live in?“. Are you kidding us?? One of the tentpoles about this country is our acceptance of others and sense of multiculturalism. While we know racism is an unfortunate reality, seeing just how ignorant some people can be has our blood boiling.

 

“Are you really going to deny your child who is sick care just because the doctor (who is a licensed professional!!!) isn’t white???” one person wrote on Twitter.

Bravo to the teen in the video who stood up to her and confronted her despicable behaviour. By nature, many of us shy away from conflict but what she did was right and very brave.

In the end, the unidentified woman (her face blurred for the privacy of her child) was escorted out, police were called but no charges were laid. The child was eventually seen by a doctor at the clinic. We’re sure there’s still more to come from the story as the days go on.
