Party people at this year’s Glastonbury festival will be able to turn their pee into energy. There will be a 40 urinal set up by the main stage, and all pee from those urinals will get converted to electricity via bacteria.

This bacteria will eat urine, causing it to release energy , which can then be converted into electricity. The pee power will be used to illuminate information boards at the festival, and charge phones. This is how it works.

Festival organizers are expecting 1,000 litres of pee to go through the system every day.

The technology is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It will be headed to Uganda for another trial later this year.
