There are only a small number of days in which you can wear a poppy during the year, and they are upon us. Let’s review some poppy protocol.

RADIO-Remembrance-Day-Spotlight-1052x592-KISS

  • You may wear your poppy from the last Friday in October until Remembrance Day.
  • You wear your poppy on the left lapel, closest to your heart.
  • No other pin should be used with the poppy. (For example, do not put a safety pin through the poppy and avoid pinning a Canadian Flag over the poppy to secure it. The Royal Canadian Legion does say, if wearing a Canadian Flag through the poppy is a must, it is better than not wearing a poppy at all).
  • The poppy is to be removed by the end of Remembrance Day, November 11th.
  • To discard your poppy, it is particularly respectful to place it at the base of a cenotaph.
